Along the year 2011 the WFP Aviation Service’s Quality Management System (QMS) continued with its implementation process through the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU). The goal of the system is the continuous improvement of the quality of the services provided in line with the aviation industry’s last developments for the satisfaction of the different customers of the service.
Actually, the Quality Assurance reviews of the Aviation Field Operations (AFOs – UNHAS) are welcomed and certainly expected at the field as they have proved to be a contribution for the improvement of system and procedures.
In the first three years since started, 25 visits to Aviation Field Operations (AFOs) have been performed. In 2010, 9 of them were reviewed in 12 different countries in the world and 8 in 2011.
The Quality Management System (QMS) has been provided with useful tools and guidance documents for the purpose of facilitating the reviews. The same tools and guidance documents have been used by the AFOs for a continuous monitoring of the compliance with established procedures and requirements creating a valuable synergy around the QMS.
The WFP Aviation Service Quality Management System (QMS) is overall a supporting tool for the Aviation Field Operations (AFOs). Nevertheless, along the year 2012 the QMS will continue moving into performance measurement while persistently reinforce the support role that has been previously defined as a priority.
